Foto "Friday" vol. 5 - A long awaited visit

So it's not Friday... it's barely still Sunday... nevertheless, here is "Foto Friday!"

We've had a very busy week - - the highlight of which was Nana and Papa's visit. We were thrilled that they spent so much time with us, especially since Papa only has 15 days leave from his service in Afghanistan. He will be leaving this Wednesday to serve out the rest of his tour (which ends in July).

Since the kids have been looking at pictures of Papa solely in his uniform for the past seven and a half months, he wisely arrived dressed in it to help make the reunion a little easier for them. And while they both immediately knew exactly who he was, they each had a slightly different reaction.

Miss Gracie was still in her carseat (we'd been at two appointments) when she saw Papa for the first time. She looked right at him and leaned toward him ever so slightly with an expression that clearly said, "Seriously... is that really you, Papa? Where have you been?"

Once out of the car, she had no trouble snuggling right in!

Papa and his girl

Preston immediately said, "Hi Papa" and then went straight to Nana! He then went to Papa, told him "hi" again, gave him a kiss and went back to Nana. Just a short time later, the two of them were well into the crazy playing captured here! (And it didn't stop until they left days later!)

Coloring at the dinner table!

We went out to dinner the first night they were here. It was a momentous occasion not just because of Papa and Nana's presence, but because it was the first time all six of us have been in a restaurant together... EVER. Up until about a year ago, most indoor settings (other than our own home) would cause Gracie tremendous panic. This meal was her third at a restaurant in two weeks... the first dinner. She's making such amazing changes and progress... and it was so special that they were here to witness it!

Since I missed posting this week, I also missed blogging Happy Birthday wishes to my mom (Nana) on the 26th, and John on the 28th! Happy Belated Blogger Birthday to both of you!!!

So glad your back and so glad that ya'll had a great visit with Gracie's & Preston's Nana and Papa! The pictures are just great but for some reason I cannot see the first few... I don't know if it is a technical issue with my computer or Gracie's blog. That is so neat that Gracie is accepting new things to do! Have a great week and talk to you soon :)

Love all the pics of Gracie and Preston with their Nana and Papa! The ones of Gracie and her Papa just melt my heart. That's so great that Gracie is tolerating the crazy restaurant scene now! Katie used to do good with that when she was a baby until she was about 2, but now we don't go near restaurants...except for take-out! :-)

She's gunna turn into a "I wanna go out to eat girl" like her Auntie Becky. :) Love you so much ...this blog always feels like a huge hug. xoxo
